Judging Criteria

Although called a “pageant” it is crucial to mention that this is in no way a beauty pageant of any kind. In fact, the event is a competition aimed to establish a Sikh role-model for the community. Therefore, the pageant strives to incorporate various Sikh elements including rehat, gurmat, history, gurbani, and gurmukhi. These elements are incorporated through a Sikh Trivia and Sikh Q & A segment. Culture is also an important aspect and this will be exemplified through a Punjabi speaking and Sikhi saroop/traditional attire segment. Lastly, we would like to get to know the contestant on a more personal level through not only their application, but also by their reflections of their personality in the introduction and freelance segment. Details, requirements, and judging criteria for each of these segments will be provided to each contestant upon notification of acceptance into pageant.

In general, each contestant’s performance in each segment will be judged using a standard objective scale by three qualified judges.

The pageant consists of three rounds with two sub-eliminations and one final elimination. Round 1 will consist of the traditional attire, introduction, and Punjabi speaking section followed by an elimination of 10 contestants (5 males and 5 females will be eliminated), leaving 16 contestants. Round two will consist of a Sikh trivia and freelance segment followed by a second elimination of 6 contestants (3 males and 3 females) leaving 10 finalists. The last round will be a Q&A segment followed by the announcement of the two first place winners.
